I could have chosen any one of Martin Luther King Jr’s poignant quotes, but I love this and believe in this quote. This is one of the reasons this man has always been one of my personal hero’s because it goes to show that anyone can effect huge change in the world through love and peace. And today was a shining example of his work as we Inaugurate our African-American 44th President for his second term. Hats off to you Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!

I’m not a snow skier but as someone who loves speed and the wind in my face, I can imagine that it’s quite a thrill to soar down a mountain at fast speeds with the wind flying by you. When I was in Jackson Hole, WY a few months ago, I visited the Teton Village and took the tram up to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful sight.
A little bit of heaven…
When I reached the top, I fell in love with the tiny chalet (a snack shack) and I was fascinated by all the skis attached to it.
True to my nature, my imagination starts running away and wondering who rode these skis? What tricks were performed, what feats had been accomplished, how many broken legs had been had? Each of these pair of skis has a story to tell.
It wasn’t snowing at the time I was there, but now that it’s winter, I’m sure these hills are covered with snow and I love the thought that new stories are being created each and every day. If you’re a skier, here’s hoping there’s fresh powder in your near future and that you are creating your own rad, new stories. And I’ll meet you at the lodge for Après-Ski ~ drinks and war stories.

My creative sister, Vicki Petulla of The Creeping Fig, was once again asked to lend her garden talents to this year’s Los Gatos/Saratoga Summit League Home Tour. As usual, I trailed along to help her. The Summit League does not allow the public to photograph these homes, so it was my good fortune that when I was photographing Vicki’s work, the homeowner asked if I could photograph the rest of the house. With their permission, I thought I would share this beautiful and historic home with all of you.
This stunning historic Arts and Crafts home, circa 1890′s, is owned by the Krebs who purchased the property in 1985. What started as a summer home has grown into 10,000 sq. ft. and includes the likes of four bedrooms, nine bathrooms, formal library, wine cellar, exercise room, nine fireplaces, all the standard rooms, and of course who doesn’t need a ballroom in their home!
