This past weekend I went to breakfast in Santa Cruz at Aldo’s. The first image below was the view from my outdoor table. I love the early morning fog that hovers over the lighthouse and water. The sun was already breaking behind me.
There was this adorable and very playful Pelican that kept circling around and diving in the water for his breakfast.
And then there were two…
This is one of my favorite ways to spend a morning.

I so look forward to your postings….so glad you are there
That is so incredibly sweet ~ thank you so much!
It looks as though you had a very peaceful, relaxing morning. No doubt, you got some nice photos to remember the day by. I hope the rest of your day has been just as relaxing. Thanks for sharing.
Any day by the beach is a *wonderful* day for me.
I love these photos!
Thank you, Mary Lou. I had actually been playing around with my camera the day before and forgot that I had played with the settings so I’m a little disappointed in the quality of them…these are the lessons I need to learn to try to be better.
I’m telling you, Susan – I need to break out my thesaurus when I get your posts, so I don’t keep using the same superlatives. I don’t need it for this, though. These are really evocative shots.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You were enamored by the fog too, weren’t you?
You know it!
I can see why this is one of your favorite ways to spend a morning. Wonderful photos with such great atmosphere.
Yes, it’s such a peaceful way to start the day.
You ARE the playful one. Love the deviations on the first picture!
Maybe just a little..and thank you for stopping by.
what a beautiful location and great photos
Thank you, it’s the harbor at Santa Cruz, CA.
Susan K, these are absolutely wonderful photographs. The first one reminds me of an old painting, but I can’t remember the name. I never knew fog could be used so effectively. And, I love pelicans too.
Thank you George!
I can almost here the gentle clanging of bouys in the mist.
Geez, now I want to go back again.
The power of a good photo, eh?
I would enjoy an invite… love the look through your photos… so descriptive…
Thank you kindly sir.
They are amazing photographs… I love flight of them… you captured so nicely dear Susan… What a beautiful post and place. Thank you, have a nice day, with my love, nia
Thank you once again, dear Nia, for your thoughtful comment.
These are all wonderful photographs!! Love the atmosphere and it makes me long to head out to the beach and take an early morning stroll.. Sigh
Only wish I lived there to wake up to it each morning.
Fog, lighthouse, ocean, pelicans…what more could you ask!! Love it.
It’s pretty amazing in my book.
I’m a big fan of lighthouses. I grew up near one and they are very comforting to me.
There is something comforting about them. I would love to do a whole book on lighthouses.
I can almost feel the mist on my cheek.
I know, it does evoke that feeling ~ great description. Thank you.
Loving your photos – I think pelicans look a little prehistoric! Have a Great Day:)
Don’t they though?!?
